On March 13, 2019, we had fairly strong wind of about 6 meters per second (21.6 kph). While I was out with my camera, I stopped at a small bamboo grove and made a short audio field recording.
The location of this recording can be seen on radio aporee ::: maps.
I recorded with a Sony PCM-M10 recorder and two small omnidirectional microphones attached to either side of a backpack lying on the ground.

The Compass app on my iPhone helps me record the location and orientation of the microphones.

This little grove of bamboo stands alone on a corner between fields and an old residential neighborhood. Since it is not maintained, I fear that it may disappear.

What beautiful percussion by nature. I admire your ear as well as your eye, P-san.
Thanks!
Interestingly you call this wind in bamboo where I would put bamboo in wind. I like the alternative perspective.
Interesting! I hadn’t thought about it in this case, but I suppose I perceive wind as an active agent that “plays” objects as musical instruments. I would like to find more wind-powered sounds!
This is really beautiful, and a wonderful counterpoint to the city noise currently drifting into my apartment. Thank you!
